At present, some parents dye or perm their children's hair to beautify their image in pursuit of fashion or stage performance effects. However, for children, using hair dye and perm cosmetics can pose certain safety risks. There are three main reasons for this:

1、 Hair dye and perm cosmetics are special cosmetics with high safety risks
In China, hair dyeing and perm cosmetics belong to special cosmetics, which can be produced and imported only after being registered by the National Medical Products Administration. The common hair coloring cosmetics on the market are generally produced through oxidative polymerization reaction between dye precursors and coupling agents under the action of strong oxidants, to produce pigment macromolecules that can be fixed in the hair, thereby changing the color of the hair. The common perm cosmetics on the market generally destroy the Chemical bond such as disulfide bonds in the hair through reducing ingredients, curl or stretch the hair with external force, and finally repair the damaged Chemical bond to shape the hair, so as to achieve the effect of changing the hair curvature. The main functional component of hair dye cosmetics is hair dye, while the main functional component of perm cosmetics is perm, which is under strict management in China. In the Technical Specifications for the Safety of Cosmetics, there are more than 70 kinds of permitted hair dyes, including Resorcinol, and common hair perm agents, such as Thioglycolic acid, are included in the list of restricted ingredients, with clear restrictions on use.

2、 Children's physiological characteristics determine that hair dye and perm cosmetics are not suitable for children to use
Compared to adults, children's skin has characteristics such as incomplete epidermal barrier function, immature dermal fiber structure, and incomplete secretion function of epidermal lipid glands. Therefore, children's skin has weak tolerance to external stimuli and is sensitive to foreign substances. After using cosmetics, they may experience problems such as dry skin, redness, and itching.
